Corporal McGhee served in the U.S. Army and was assigned to Delta Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regime, Fort Benning, Georgia. The 2006 graduate of Massaponax High School served three tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. He was killed on May 13, 2009 at the age of 21, in central Iraq while he fearlessly advanced on the enemy. His actions allowed Rangers to surpress enemy fire protecting the assault group and saving lives. Soccer Field #5 at Patriot Park is dedicated for his courageous service to our country and selfless service to save the lives of his fellow Rangers.  Ryan was engaged to Ashleigh Mitchell of Fredericksburg, VA. He is survived by his father Steven McGhee of Myrtle Beach S.C., his mother Sherrie Battle McGhee, and his brother Zachary.
